Welcome! In this website I’m sharing a number of collections of my photography. The first these are different perspectives on the natural world, followed by my more impressionistic and abstract renderings, then several collections of location-specific images.
I have an uncle and my father to thank for sparking my fascination with photography. At the beginning, it was all about film...choosing film types and speeds; B&W versus color, etc. My early years were also the heyday of photo-centric print publications like Life magazine and National Geographic that found their way into our homes, sparking all sorts of excitement at the possibilities of travel. There was much to see, and much wonder to experience.
My appreciation of our natural world began early, growing up in a rural area of the Midwest. No one thought twice about allowing their kids to spend many hours wandering, unsupervised, in the surrounding woods, ponds, and fields, like curious feral animals. Adding to this formative time were many camping adventures as a family, and Boy Scout outings, furthering our being steeped in the natural world.
As a young adult, two years abroad with the Peace Corps opened new considerations for what was out 'there' beyond our borders. This morphed into a career in international public health, during which I was able to live, work in and explore many countries, cultures and very different landscapes. Now retired, I feel blessed for having been able to see so many corners of our world. Since retiring, I’ve pursued training as a Master Naturalist and volunteer my time with local environmental groups.
With this website I'm hoping to convey a bit of the awe and magic that can be found in the natural world, and locations near and far. Feel free to send any comments or questions via the “Contact” page of this website.
Thanks for visiting,
 Craig
